Stevie

The last concert.  We went to Berkeley to see Jack's Mannequin.  Stevie had a mad crush on Andrew McMahon.  I hated this gold sweater, she loved it.  We didn't know that these were our last months together.  It drove Stevie crazy that I called her my baby.  I found this photo after she left her body and for the first time I could see her as a grown-up.

"Hours pass and she still counts the minutes that I am not here. "

Pink Sky

Coming in MAY!!!

This is a page from "Pink Sky" a book I wrote and illustrated in memory of my daughter Stevie and my very good friend Iva's daughter, Brianna.  Our daughters both passed within weeks of each other.  Brianna was seventeen and an incredible artist.  It is my belief that our girls brought us together as friends.

This book is intended to help families facing the most difficult discussion they will ever have with their child.  It is a story gently told about a little girl who has cancer, and her transition back to the Everywhere.

The Pink Sky Project is being set up to help fund copies of this book for families in need.

If you would like to purchase a book, need a book, or would simply like to donate to Pink Sky, you can go to the website:

"Everyone is born and everyone dies.

It is a great Mystery and a promise.

It is a story that is hard to remember

and a story that has no endings,

only beginnings."

This is Stevie, my beautiful daughter, my very best friend, love of my life, and queen of my world.  She is my heart.

Stevie is world Scrabble champion, reader of more books than I can count, girl-genius (not kidding),  chef, vegan, lover of music, words, beauty, and life.

My daughter died in April, of cancer. She was 19 years old.

This child has been my Inspiration
My strength
My teacher
My life.

The world was forever changed the day she was born, and is forever changed without her here.
